Ever Expecting
Is Sunday’s message exploding in your hearts as much as it is mine?
What an amazing picture of the utter defeat of Satan by our King Jesus. I would encourage you to listen to it again and again, to really mediate on the abundant truths in Colossians 2:15. Jesus HAVING SPOILED principalities and powers, he MADE A SHOW of them OPENLY, TRIUMPHING OVER them in it. Wow! A short verse, but yet so powerful.
I don’t think anyone could ever put into words the enormity of Jesus’ great love for us, what His obedience to the Father purchased for us when we didn’t deserve it and certainly couldn’t earn it. Let us fully embrace it all, Beloved!
Romans 6:3-11
Do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Colossians 2:11-14
In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
There is a very powerful truth is these verses I want to highlight today. We have the divine privilege to be buried with Him through baptism into His death, so that we can also be alive together with Him. To walk in newness of life, to be united together in the likeness of His resurrection, to no longer be slaves of sin, to not be under the dominion of death, to have all trespasses forgiven, to obliterate the handwriting of law that was against us. Jesus has equipped us to walk in the same victory, power, freedom, wisdom, and love that He does.
Hebrews declares that Jesus, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of the God; ever expecting till His enemies be made His footstool. Jesus, from the moment He sat down at the right hand of God, continually looks forward to, in anticipation, His enemies being made His footstool. We’re not talking a cushy, padded, fufu footstool here. It’s a footstool used by a conquering king, to place his foot on the neck of the conquered, those under his total dominion. Do you see it? Jesus on His throne with eager, confident expectation that we will be victorious over all His enemies and put them under His dominion where they belong.
Ephesians 2:4-7
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Beloved, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us! Embrace the victorious identity that Jesus sees in you and give the enemy no place in your life. I pray that as you meditate on these promises, you will have greater revelation of who you are in Christ Jesus.
In great love,
Kay
